Last weekend I photographed two-year-old Kaya with mom, Erica, and dad, Brad. I remember an eventful vacation to Jamaica with Brad’s parents eleven long years ago and while we haven’t seen much of their family lately, I’ve recently been in touch with Brad through Facebook.

A two-year-old’s attention span changes by the second and they are humorous little characters. The phrase that made Kaya smile almost every time was a resounding, “POOL PARTY!!” You can see a funny video of him using the mic and doing some smooth dancing on Brad’s blog. Brad and Erica did a great job at the session and we got some bubble shots outside, too. Love his little batman sweater!

I wish I would have taken some good before shots of my studio bathroom remodeling project, but I didn’t. I will describe it as 1990 country/shabby and I didn’t realize HOW shabby it was until we started the project (months ago). This Pottery Barn bathroom was my inspiration but the only thing I purchased from there are the wild zebra towels. I ordered the cabinet, top and flooring from LeBaron & Miller here in Freeport, the mirror from Lowe’s, most other miscellaneous including the shower doors are from Menard’s.

I still hope to change the doors and woodwork, too. I left the base of the shower stall but everything else is new. I’m crazy about the Tarket Fiber Floor – it was inexpensive, a good choice for a cement floor and adds some different texture to the little room. I’m still searching for the perfect accessories and I’ll do the touch-up painting this weekend. The photo of Kelby from a couple of years ago has finally found a perfect home!

Spring green is my absolute favorite color. That fresh, brand new olive, shiny green goes away all too quickly.

Here’s Harley

April 18, 2009

This sweet, sweet dachshund named Harley met me for some photos at a new location I’ve recently scouted. His eyes show so much affection and warmth in them, don’t they? Though he’s not really accustomed to being outside much he cooperated so nicely and didn’t even bark at the two Westies we met there.

Paige is Five

April 15, 2009

I can’t believe it, but five years ago (already) Paige was born in downtown Chicago at Prentice Women’s hospital (part of Northwestern). I looked back at my scrapbook pages remembering the beautiful weather, Michigan avenue tulips and how sweet Papa Jim was to buy her Bruce, the Shark, from the Disney store. I was surprised since it’s not your typical baby girl gift but so cute and funny. Tonight we talked to her on her real birthday about the big party she had at “school” and then bowled with her Mom and Dad. We talked about her upcoming “Kindergarten Camp” which will prepare her for the real thing by practicing tying her shoes. I wonder if she even has any shoes that tie! Here she is in full Minnie splendor – at five years old.
