The church addition/remodeling project is really taking shape. If you drive to the South side of the construction area, you will see the new main entrance and you will get the full effect of the height and future grandeur of the structure. The ceiling now has lighting hanging in place. The interior of the church is changing, too. In the old toddler nursery they have installed this big, bright and shiny new power box which sure contrasts with the old one. Fellowship hall is being divided into several classrooms.

I’m determined to print more of my family digital photos. My goal is to make some personalized cards for my grandchildren and children with a few of my recent photos and to ease back into stamping, journaling and scrapbooking.

So many of us do nothing with our digital photographs other than look at them on the computer. Some don’t even get them into their computer. Tragically, we are in danger of losing these photos if they are not backed up on DVD or stored off-site or printed! I’m trying to remedy that problem in my life by trying to do more scrapbook pages that are simple and heart-felt with just enough journalling to take me back to each and every wonderful day with them. When our friend, Jim, recently visited our home he described it as a “gallery”. And, I guess it is, but I want to see more of them whether they are framed, in albums, in scrapbooks or just “plastered” all over my refrigerator.

This project, though, is intended to be a reflection on MY life (the abridged version). I registered for a class with Cathy Zielske after spending a couple of hours enjoying her blog archives and relating to her method of recording her family life. She gave us this little tag book to print and then alter and to keep with us at all times prior to the start of the class. I used a little bit of some Hippie Chick paper since I grew up in the sixties (yes, I’m a little old for this). The tag book is a tool to use to help us brain-storm about our lives using the alphabet as a guide.

Well, the summer is officially over since my school started this past Monday. These construction photos were actually taken on July 28 but I really want to post in order so I can track the progress. The first photo is the inside of the old locker room. Volunteers have almost entirely gutted it. Alot of volunteer work is taking place in addition to the contractor’s work. The roof is going on now so I’ll get some new shots soon.

Last Sunday we had one of our summer social events for our small group from church. During the school year we meet weekly but this summer our group has planned more unusual (and less frequent) get-togethers. We met at church and rode out to Juan & Jean’s to pick them up before heading out to Rick and Linda Garnhart’s farm in the German Valley area. Our leaders had won the farm night at the Tri-County auction/fundraiser a while ago. It couldn’t have been a more perfect night with cool, clear skies and no breeze at all. The Garnharts of Mud Creek Farms raise Polled Hereford cows and it’s really true what Gary Ross claims: everything is super-fantastic in German Valley. I get such a feeling of calm and tranquility when I have the opportunity to sit at somebody’s farm in the country. Their farm is quite historic with an old farm house, barn and museum to Oliver farm machinery. We even had hay-ride on freshly mown hay. Here are a couple of photos from our night as well as more in this slideshow.
